Clinical decision rules and OpenEMR

Every patient has a treatment history that differs from patient to patient, depending on their condition.

Clinical decision rules are a set of pre-defined rules that come with the standard installation of OpenEMR. These rules aim at improving the quality of care provided to the patient.

OpenEMR maps each patient’s treatment history with these pre-defined set of rules and gives a report to the physician on medications and tests to be avoided.

In this way, clinical decision rules help improve diagnosis and eliminate the need for clinical tests.

Clinical decision rules support a long way in overall treatment by sending alerts to patients as well as providers regarding any upcoming or due actions.

Clinical decision rules also cover plans for preventive care and diabetes.
